Healthy Snacks!

Eat your fruit and vegetables! They are your best snack choices. Growing kids need at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables each day.

Fruit is naturally sweet and can be eaten fresh, frozen, dried or canned. Below are some examples:

  Fresh: Apples Grapes Bananas Mangos
    Blueberries Oranges Cantaloupe Pears
    Cherries Strawberries Raspberries  
  Frozen: Bananas Cherries Blueberries Grapes
    Mangos Peaches Pineappale Strawberries
  Dried: Raisins Apricots Apples Cranberries

  Canned: Unsweetened applesauce Canned fruit in juice


Vegetables can be eaten raw or with dips such as low-fat salad dressing like ranch, all natural peanut butter, low-fat cream cheese, guacamole, salsa or hummus. Below are some examples:

    Broccoli Carrots Cauliflower Celery
    Cucumber Edamame Green Beans Green, Red or Yellow Peppers
    Sugar Snap Peas Tomatoes Yellow Squash Zucchini
    Make a salad with lettuce and your favorite veggies!
